LOG (Hiroshima Prefecture)
A three-story hotel complex located midway up Mount Senkoji.
LOG is a three-story hotel complex located midway up Mount Senkoji, a popular spot offering spectacular views of the Onomichi Channel.
Originally constructed in 1963 as the pioneering hillside apartment complex known as Shindo Apartments, LOG has been thoughtfully renovated into a multifunctional space in collaboration with Studio Mumbai, an architectural collective from India. Reflecting the meticulous approach of founder and architect Bijoy Jain, the building is designed as a crossroads where locals and travelers can comfortably mingle. Beyond its role as an inn overlooking Onomichi’s charming streets, guests can freely enjoy the café, shops, and peaceful garden.
The hotel occupies the third floor, with six guestrooms elegantly finished in traditional Japanese washi paper on floors, walls, and ceilings, creating a cocoon-like ambiance. Designed to engage the senses gently, the rooms feature soft natural lighting, creating a tranquil environment perfect for relaxation. Each spacious guestroom measures approximately 40 square meters, ideal for enjoying an extraordinary, peaceful escape.
Guests also have access to a library on the same floor, inspired by Bijoy Jain’s own study at Studio Mumbai, ideal for relaxing, reading, or photography.
LOG accommodates guests aged 13 and above. For families with younger children, accommodation is available at the traditional townhouse-style property Setouchi Minato no Yado Shimai-tei Western House, located nearby on the same grounds.
